Club Facility Improvements

The final stage in the pitch drainage improvements have been completed recently and Rusper FC and Ifield’s youth team have both reaped the benefits with only a single fixture this season having to be cancelled because of the condition of the pitch – a huge improvement on previous years.

Work continues on our application to Sport England for funding as part of the Olympic legacy – the hope is that we might be able to secure funding to enable us to undertake improvements to the pavilion – to include the relocation of switches and flood light token box to the changing room wall, sort out hot water to the sinks and make changes to the locking systems on the external and internal doors so that the toilets/shower area would be accessible to members.

Coming soon……. Pavilion and Sports Field Clear Up

With spring definitely here, the Committee’s thoughts have turned to spring cleaning! In mid-April, the Committee will set to and give the pavilion and club facilities a ‘freshen up’.

Football

As confirmed above, Rusper Sports Club has been home to Rusper FC, who play every other Saturday and Ifield U15 team who have been training and playing matches at the club every Sunday morning, this season.

Tennis

Mike Costa , the Sports Club tennis coach has been very active in the past few months promoting tennis at the Club and running coaching sessions during the winter months. He will be holding further sessions and anyone interested in coaching for themselves, family members and/or children can contact him for details of up and coming sessions.

The Club has also just become a member of the Lawn Tennis Association – this will allow us access to the LTA’s online booking system, the Wimbledon ballot (next year!) and maybe in the future some funding for court improvements. We will keep you posted on developments and let all members know once the booking system is available.

The Rusper Games

The Club will be hosting a day of sporting activity at the pavilion and field on Saturday 21 July to celebrate the 2012 Olympics coming to London. There will be a mixture of events picked from the modern day (& ancient!) Olympics and refreshments will be available. All members, their friends and family and indeed anyone who would like to come along will be very welcome. Further details on events and how to get involved will follow shortly!

Rusper Sports Club AGM 2012

The Club’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 16 April at the pavilion at 8.00pm. All members are very welcome to attend. An agenda will be available on the website ahead of the meeting – and displayed on the parish notice boards.
