Club Facility Improvements
The Committee are committed to improving the facilities for members, both current and future, but clearly the membership subscription alone will not be sufficient!
We were very fortunate to receive an extremely generous donation from the May Day Committee following the village celebrations this year and we are actively pursuing other funding avenues in order to undertake a number of improvements to the pavilion. This includes the relocation of switches and flood light token box to the changing room wall, sort out hot water to the sinks and make changes to the locking systems on the external and internal doors so that the toilets/shower area would be accessible to members.
An exciting recent development is that Sport England are inviting applications from existing sports clubs for improvements to, and extension of, facilities as part of the Olympic legacy. The Treasurer and Chairman are in the process of putting together all the relevant paperwork together ahead of the deadline for funding applications at the beginning of October.
July saw work on the Sports Club pitch to improve drainage, with a further final stage that will be undertaken in the coming weeks. The work, it is hoped, will improve drainage and the playing surface which in turn will allow matches to be played for more of the season.
Football bookings
The club recently have confirmed bookings for the season both with Rusper FC, who play every other Saturday and Ifield U15 team who will be training and playing matches at the club every Sunday morning.
Tennis
The Committee are investigating the possibility of tennis coaching to be held at the Club next spring/summer. As part of the initial discussions a trial session is being held at the Club on Tuesday 13 September 2011.
