MATCH REPORTS FOR FEB
Saturday 6th February
Back to Division Four North; three points required at home against Newdigate. Our reporter was still missing for the game but it would appear the our defence did turn up! The first half was all Rusper, two goals from Scottie, and one from Dan Budd put the game out of Newdigate's reach, secured all three points and got our league pursuit back on track. We slackened off in the second half and may have given Newdigate some hope of getting something out of the game. Howeer, we only made two mistakes at the back and Newdigate could only take advantage once. Thankfully the Bexhill game appears to be forgotten.

Forest Reserves are probably our biggest threat to league glory and we knew it was going to be a tough fought match. Travelling with a near full strength squad to the away fixture was always going to make the task a little easier. Forest are full of confidence which is puzzling for what transpired to be an average side. Our biggest problem was at right back, that is not to say Danny Middleton had a bad game but it meant our central and forward line up was unsettled. A John Terry moment at the back saw our centre half get caught under the ball and let the impressive Lopez in to finish well under pressure. Forest continued to threaten our goal but I can't remember another clear cut chance for the home side in the first half.
Shaun Taylor took a knock and was replaced by our unfit out of game time Manager. This seemed to make the difference by releasing Matty Clarke to push on up front and for us to take control in the middle of the park. Dan Budd got us level with 5 minutes of the change after a defence splitting ball was played through and Budd finished in his typically cool confident fashion. More chances followed and I felt we did enough to edge it in the second half. Forrest had their share of chances and Sam Charman between our sticks was immense. A point each and still both sides are in the hunt for top spot it could be settled at the Field of Dreams in the return fixture.
