MATCH REPORTS FOR SEP

Saturday 26th September
A 5 goal thriller
This was our first away game since the defeat at Newdigate in the last game of last season.
The attacking play once again was creative and dangerous but chances still went begging. The link and support play were outstanding and creating chances from all over the midfield is very encouraging. Unlucky not to be 4 or 5 up at half time, the lads remained patient and knew that the goals would come eventually. The back four were immense this week and it goes to show that when we stay disciplined and stick to our jobs we are very hard to break down. Finishing 5-0 was a fair reflection of the contrast in quality on the day but maybe we should have hit double figures in a game that saw far more chances than goals. We will be turning our training attentions to finishing to ensure we put future opponents out of their misery as early as possible.

Well done lads it's looking good.

Goal Scorers: Scott Cox, Donato Devita, Shaun Taylor, Warren Hall, Colin Beesley.

We're back at the field of dreams next week to host Billingshurst from the 2nd Division in the Sussex Junior Cup.

Saturday 19th September
Missed chances, wandering centre halves and rash tackles ended Rusper's Cup run before it started. Yapton finished third in their division last year and therefore we were always going to get a game out of them. Again going forward we were creative and imaginative but were not as deadly as we have been in front of goal. We had opportunities to wrap the game up early on but we failed to finish some good chances.
Rusper opened the scoring and looked comfortable against the organised Yapton. A wonder strike from their man of the match drew them level with what was almost the last kick of the first half.
The second half started much the same as the first with Rusper pressing and creating chances from everywhere. Matty Rickards got our noses in front with 20 minutes to go and all we had to do was shut up shop and see the game out. Disaster struck when one of our centre halves thought 2-1 was a losing score line and had to go looking to support the attacking play. This left us exposed at the back, allowing Yapton to draw level with 8 minutes remaining.
We continued to press and create but still couldn’t finish our chances. A needless tackle on a player from behind when all he could see was the corner flag led to a free kick that Yapton converted two minutes from time. All in all a disappointing day out for the lads.

Goal Scorers: Don and Matty R.

We have to bounce back from the disappointment and get our campaign back on track with a win against local rivals Newdigate.

Saturday 12th September
After a lethargic start and going a goal down, it was back to business for Rusper FC in a friendly against Holbrook Vets. A sloppy mistake at the back saw us concede another weak goal but again going forward we were efficient and creative. We were missing a few players giving some of the old guard another shot at reclaiming their shirts. We ran out 6 - 1 winners in another convincing victory. The future is looking good for Rusper FC.
Thank you to Trev and his lads for a good run out.

Goal Scorers: Shaun Taylor (2), Mark Hill, Scott Cox (2), Matt Clarke

We will be welcoming Yapton Reserves this coming weekend for a Division 4 Charity Cup clash. We are hoping to be back to full strength to kick start our cup campaign.

Saturday 5th September
Rusper FC secured three points on the opening day of the season in an organised 6-2 victory over West Chilitington Reserves. The back four were solid but for two errors that led to conceding both goals. In attack we were imaginative, creative and efficient with possession and deadly in front of goal. Well done to all the lads and thank you for a spirited performance from West Chilitington.
